This past Saturday my own sister got married and it was a heavenly day. After a year of planning, the entire event was spectacular. Things have been a bit busy here at Fred Marcus Studios, so this post is a bit belated, but I would like to send out my heart felt thanks to everyone that attended the opening of our show at the Lecia Gallery on June 10th.

It was a really wonderful evening and it was truly amazing to see so many of of friends, clients, and colleagues together in one place. The show is will be up to till August 7th, so if you missed the opening you still have a chance to take in the show!

Marisa & Robin's Amazing Wedding Trailer

Platinum Jewels in Bloom with Kwiat and Fred Marcus Photography

Spring has finally sprung in NYC and it couldn't be a more welcome change. With it comes warmer weather, green plants, and new for this year Platinum Jewels in Bloom . The first annual Platinum Jewels in Bloom event will be pairing breath taking spring floral arrangements with sparkling jewels in the window displays of several boutiques on Madison Avenue between 57th and 86th streets.

Starting April 8th the Kwiat Madison Avenue Boutique (725 Madison Ave. at 64th Street) will be showcasing floral arrangements curated by horticulturalists from the Central Park Conservancy, brilliant Kwiat Jewels and photography by Fred Marcus Photography in their window displays.

The event runs to April 17th, and a portion of sales will be donated to the Central Park Conservancy's fund. So now is the perfect time to chase what is left of the winter blues away with a spring time stroll down Madison Ave.

See You In Las Vegas

It's almost here! The WPPI convention and trade show will be taking place March 4 to 11th at he MGM Convention center, Las Vegas Nevada. It is one of the largest photography conventions in the country and if you are in the area it is definitely something you do not want to miss. Several of us from Fred Marcus Photography will be in attendance, and I will be giving a platform class on my approach to photography. The class will be held from 3:30 to 5:30pm, Tuesday March 9th, in room 318. If you can't make it to the class, I will be appearing at the Nikon booth through out the show.

On February 1st over 500 people came out to the Chelsea Art Museum for Malawi: Images of Progress, a photography exhibit and auction to benefit Goods For Good. The night went off with out a hitch and your generosity helped to raise over $60,000 that will go to the aid of orphans and other vulnerable children living in Malawi and Haiti.

It was truly an amazing evening, and I can't tell you how touched I am that so many people came out to support me and this very worthy cause. Almost all of the photographs sold right off the walls. As some of the readers of this blog probably know by now,a few months ago I was fortunate enough to take a trip to Malawi to photograph the work being done to improve the living and educational conditions of the children in this region. This trip had a tremendously profound effect on me. It is hard to describe in words, but I think the photos I returned with speak for themselves.

Melissa Kushner, the founder of Goods4Good, and I decided the best way to document and share this emotional experience would be through an exhibit of my photographs. So on Monday, February 1st at the Chelsea Art Museum we will be hosting an exhibit and auction of my work. Here is a small preview of the photos that will be on display and for sale

A few weeks ago my father, Andy Marcus, had the pleasure of being interviewed by Crash Taylor for his website Interviewsbycrashtaylor.com If you haven't gone to this site already, now is definitely the time. Autumn

Autumn has finally arrived in NYC, and despite the chill in the air I think its one of the best times of the year for portraits. The colors of the leaves alone make up for all the time spent out in the cold.

These are a few of my favorite shots from a recent shoot I did with Harris and Jamie. I want to congratulate them on their engagement and thank them for being such great models. I really think the photos turned out great.

What a Weekend! UPDATED: Now with Photos

I want to start first and foremost by congratulating Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner and thanking them for choosing us as the photographers for what can only be called a fairy tale wedding. Both my father and I spent the weekend at Donald Trump's golf course in Bedminster, NJ shooting the wonderful couple and you really could not have asked for better weather.

A Gotham Wedding

Our studio has been located on New York City's Upper West Side for close to 70 years. To say a lot has changed is an under statement, but one thing defiantly hasn't, New York City is still one of the best backgrounds for wedding photos you can find.

Jenine and Bret were married on the 19th of September, 2009 at the wonderful Gotham Hall Located on Broadway between 38th and 37th streets. We want to congratulate the happy couple as well as show case some of the amazing shots from their wedding.

Julie Banderas and Andrew Sansone: An Amazing Couple and a Beautiful Wedding.

On August 29th, 2009 Julie Banderas was married to Andrew Sansone during a wonderful ceremony at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York, NY. Andrew, founder and president of Concrete Media and BigAppleChannel.com met Julie on the set of one of the two shows she hosts for the Fox News Channel , "Fox Report Weekend" and "America's News Headquarters"

I feel honored that I was able to do my part immortalizing what was quite a day celebrating this great couple and want to wish them all the best. Before they set sail on their honey moon, Julie dropped me a note. It's always nice to hear from a happy bride:
"From the bottom of our hearts... THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! I have no other words to explain how grateful we are for having met you and your Dad!!! You and Andy are great guys! :)

Congratulations Rachel & Michael!

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to spend my weekend in sunny Ponte Veda Beach, FL shooting the wedding of Rachel Wyzan and Michael Lasry on the world renowned TPC Sawgrass golf course. The perfect Florida weather combined with the beauty of this historic course makes for a great wedding venue and some amazing photos

I want to thank Rachel and Michael for having me down there and giving me a good excuse to get out of NYC for the weekend. Apparently I wasn’t the only one who had a great time; I received this email from Rachel just recently:
“Hey Brian- This is much overdue, but I wanted to say thank you for being so awesome at our wedding. I know the pictures will turn out great but more than that- you were so helpful to me and my family and so professional and fun to be around. You were like a part of the family. The day and all the shuffling around of everyone during portraits and after the wedding went very smoothly-despite the heat- because of you. Hope you have a great weekend! I know we spoke the day after our wedding. I wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed working with Hermin & David. They were great! From the minute they came in they made us feel so comfortable and made it easy to take our photos. I also wanted to let you know how much we appreciated your phone call. We had a wonderful time, but it was nice to know they did too!
