It's almost here! The WPPI convention and trade show will be taking place March 4 to 11th at he MGM Convention center, Las Vegas Nevada. It is one of the largest photography conventions in the country and if you are in the area it is definitely something you do not want to miss. Several of us from Fred Marcus Photography will be in attendance, and I will be giving a platform class on my approach to photography. The class will be held from 3:30 to 5:30pm, Tuesday March 9th, in room 318. If you can't make it to the class, I will be appearing at the Nikon booth through out the show.

For information on WPPI both the organization and the show, you can visit their main site here or for a rundown on some of this years speakers, including myself, you can stop by SLR Lounge's 9 "Must See Speakers at WPPI 2010" here

I hope to see some of you there, it should be a great week.

Thank You.

On February 1st over 500 people came out to the Chelsea Art Museum for Malawi: Images of Progress, a photography exhibit and auction to benefit Goods For Good. The night went off with out a hitch and your generosity helped to raise over $60,000 that will go to the aid of orphans and other vulnerable children living in Malawi and Haiti.

It was truly an amazing evening, and I can't tell you how touched I am that so many people came out to support me and this very worthy cause. Almost all of the photographs sold right off the walls. For more info on purchasing these prints, call me at 212-873-5588 or email me at brianmarcus@fredmarcus.com

I want to thank everyone that helped to make this night such a success, our sponsors, host committee and everyone that was in attendance for your generosity. If you were not able to make the event, please enjoy the short video below or view the more photos from the event here and if you would like to make a donation or order prints from the show please visit Goods4Good.org

Brian Marcus Photography Exhibit

As some of the readers of this blog probably know by now,a few months ago I was fortunate enough to take a trip to Malawi to photograph the work being done to improve the living and educational conditions of the children in this region. This trip had a tremendously profound effect on me. It is hard to describe in words, but I think the photos I returned with speak for themselves.

Melissa Kushner, the founder of Goods4Good, and I decided the best way to document and share this emotional experience would be through an exhibit of my photographs. So on Monday, February 1st at the Chelsea Art Museum we will be hosting an exhibit and auction of my work. Here is a small preview of the photos that will be on display and for sale

This event is extremely important to me, both personally and professionally. I would love to invite everyone to come out and support an amazing cause. Please spread the word and bring as many friends as you can, it will be a great evening.

The Crash Taylor Interview

Posted on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 - 0 comments -

A few weeks ago my father, Andy Marcus, had the pleasure of being interviewed by Crash Taylor for his website Interviewsbycrashtaylor.com If you haven't gone to this site already, now is definitely the time. Crash is an award winning photographer who has been voted one of the top 10 wedding photographers in the UK by Professional Photographer magazine. Every week he interviews a different photographer who's work he finds inspiring. The site is packed with great, in depth interviews, and Andy's is one of the best if I do say so myself.

Here is a direct link to the interview, complete with a nice gallery of Andy's photos both from weddings and his personal portfolio.

It is the beginning of a busy month for us at Fred Marcus, but I would like to take a moment to congratulate our friend Abby Modell on an amazing opening at the Holiday House 2009 Design showcase.

We had a really great time at the opening, getting to see all the great designs and meeting so many wonderful people.

Autumn

Autumn has finally arrived in NYC, and despite the chill in the air I think its one of the best times of the year for portraits. The colors of the leaves alone make up for all the time spent out in the cold.

These are a few of my favorite shots from a recent shoot I did with Harris and Jamie. I want to congratulate them on their engagement and thank them for being such great models. I really think the photos turned out great.
